Meow–Hey, Kitty, Kitty

I’m always asked about cat nose studs. People love their cats – and while I have two dogs (Yorkshire Terriers), it’s interesting that I just got back a cat my daughter had when she was young that went to live away for a while. I tend to believe that when you make a commitment to an animal, it’s a commitment to keep, so this lovely cat named “Serena” has come back into my life at about the same time these new nose studs came to be.

I call them “El Gato” – the cat. Too cute nose studs that I’ve made from sterling silver.

Receipt for Japan Donation

As many of you know, I committed to donating 10% of the sale of all spirals sold in April at Rock Your Nose. I sold 52 items that were spiral oriented for a total of $51.48 donation + I targeted one new piece – a Paua shell nose stud that I opted to donate $5 of the sale of each from. I sold 10 of those so that’s a total donation of $101.48. Thank you to all of you who helped me with this donation by purchasing these items in April!

Customer Appreciation Program

I’m working on getting my Customer Appreciation Program up and running. It was something I’d planned to do from the beginning but hadn’t got it totally organized yet – and now I have.

I’m finding many more people are coming to me via referrals from friends and family members – thank you so much. I even had a customer tell me that she saw someone wearing one of my pieces at the supermarket and she stopped her to ask where she got it!

Here’s how it works:

You buy from me and like the work and the customer service, so you tell someone else. They come and shop with me and tell me who sent them and I send YOU a customer appreciation coupon for savings on your next purchase(s).Come see me at Rock Your Nose

More Fundraising for Japan

Nobody’s bought the first piece I put up as a fundraiser yet so I decided that since I really do want to have a good donation and make a difference in some small way, I will be donating 10% of the amount of the sale of any spiral things from Rock Your Nose in the month of April. Spirals are dear to my heart and are one of my best sellers. This includes any spiral nose studs and nose screws in sterling silver, 14 karat yellow gold filled wire and 14 karat rose gold filled wire, as well as spiral nose rings – organic open spiral nose rings, large spiral nose rings, medium spiral nose rings, tiny spiral nose rings, all spiral seamless hoops in the shop. I will also include my non pierced (unpierced) nose rings in spiral shapes in this huge shout out to my customers to help me fundraise for Japan disaster relief.

Japan Disaster Relief

I proudly belong to a team on Etsy that has a pledge from handmade artists to donate some of their proceeds to disaster relief for Japan. I'm thrilled to add this piece to the cause! For the month of April, 2011, $5 from the sale of each of this new design of nose studs will go to support Japan. At the beginning of May, I will post the receipt for the donation for all to see.

It's Sure Been a Long Time

I don't expect anyone will read this - I've been terribly neglectful with my blog and more focused on Facebook but I think this may be more the venue I want to pursue. I've heard you can't do it all and I believe that's true; particularly if your work is handmade by yourself. How on earth do you keep up with orders, questions, purchasing, bookkeeping, re-stocking, and a blog, Facebook, Twitter? I'm not sure you can. I'm really thinking about these things and trying to determine which one is best for me and for the people who are truly interested in what I do.

It's my birthday - so no wonder time for such musings. While I'm at it I have a birthday sale going on in the shops. Check it out if you get a chance.
